The Group was formed by four roofing companies in 2005 along with representation from Technical Consultants and Manufacturers who specialise in the installation of Long Strip Metal Roofing and Cladding and Leadwork. The founding committee are all members of the Metal Roofing Contractors Association.

The Group is building links with colleges and training providers to introduce and manage a comprehensive service to the building industry in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS).

This project addresses the shortfall of skilled roofers and the absence of training provisions for metal roofing generally throughout the country. There is a lack of candidates enrolling in the roofing industry and its aging workforce requires younger but mature adults to sustain the industry in terms of qualified labour.

The "Adult Learners" in your business will be able to achieve an NVQ level 1 & 2 in metal roofing as a fast-tracked qualification, under guidance from experienced Technicians and on site tutorials.

All training is carried out on site, working on real life projects as opposed to a college environment. This is then backed with candidates attending theory sessions in a classroom environment to reinforce their knowledge.

Experience is quickly gained and the operatives are soon contributing to the installation of the works whilst still meeting the objective to address the shortfall of skilled roofers and the absence of training provisions for metal roofing generally throughout the country.
